PoE 2 Guide: How to Fight Uber Arbiter & Obtain Calamity Fragments

The Arbiter of Ash stands as one of the pinnacle bosses in Path of Exile 2, a true test of your build's power, precision, and Path of Exile 2 Currency patience. With patch 0.3.0, Grinding Gear Games reworked how players access and challenge the Arbiter, reducing the complexity of the encounter but amplifying the stakes. Instead of five difficulty tiers, the fight now comes in two versions - the Standard Arbiter and the Uber Arbiter.

Whether you're chasing endgame loot, rare Path of Exile 2 Items, or the prestige of beating one of PoE 2's hardest encounters, understanding how to unlock and prepare for each version is essential. This guide will walk you through how to access the fight, collect Crisis and Calamity Fragments, and unlock the ten Boss Tree points required for Uber progression.

One Fight, Two Versions

Patch 0.3.0 simplified the Arbiter of Ash's structure. Previously, there were five separate difficulties, each increasing in power and rewards. Now, there are just two:

1. Standard Arbiter of Ash - The toughest of the "base" Pinnacle bosses, balanced for accessibility while still posing a serious challenge.
2. Uber Arbiter of Ash - The elite version of the fight, designed for advanced builds and players seeking top-tier rewards.

Both versions are accessed through the Burning Monolith, which always appears near the Atlas origin. The pathing remains consistent, ensuring that even if you're new to endgame mapping, you can reliably reach the boss arena.

Crisis and Calamity Fragments Explained

To initiate either version of the Arbiter fight, you must use a set of single-use Fragments - either Crisis Fragments for the Standard version or Calamity Fragments for the Uber version.

Crisis Fragments (Standard Arbiter)

To fight the regular Arbiter, you'll need to provide the following three items:

Fragment of Geonor - Dropped by Geonor in the Iron Citadel
Fragment of Jamanra - Dropped by Jamanra in the Copper Citadel
Fragment of Doryani - Dropped by Doryani in the Stone Citadel

These fragments are guaranteed drops when you defeat their respective Citadel bosses. However, you can earn additional fragments from the same Citadel if you stack waystone drop rate modifiers on the waystone granting access to that zone.

In short, the higher your drop rate investment, the more fragments you'll obtain on average. This makes farming fragments efficiently a key step toward multiple Arbiter attempts or trading them for Path of Exile 2 Currency for sale profit.
